The UNESCO World Heritage in Germany

Absolute Culture and Nature

Germany contains countless cultural points of interest and unique natural landscapes, which together comprise over 6,000 years of history. UNESCO has chosen to name 40 of these World Cultural Heritage Sites to represent the history of humankind. Collectively, these sites form a fascinating network of spaces, buildings and landscapes that - much like our network of Ringhotels - reaches across all of Germany. Our Ringhotels map of Germany shows which of our establishments are near the official sites.

UNESCO World Heritage List

All World Heritage Sites are protected under an international convention for the preservation of the natural and cultural heritage of mankind. The convention, which was passed by UNESCO in 1972, remains the most significant, international instrument in maintaining cultural and natural sites of extraordinary universal value. Monuments are only added to the World Heritage list if they meet the criteria of "uniqueness", "authenticity" (for cultural sites), and "integrity" (for natural sites) as stated in the convention.
